If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the Top 10 signs of Alzheimer’s Disease. Master Certified Health Education Specialist Donna Beal, who earned a Master’s in Public Health, will discuss early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease, critical for the ability of a person to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future. Beal is vice president of Program Services at the Alzheimer’s Association California Central chapter.

Beware of scams against the elderly

Lompoc Police Department Detective R. Dugan and a representative from Santa Barbara County Adult Protective Services will speak about the current rash of scams and robberies directed at the senior population. They will share their vast knowledge and assorted tips to avoid becoming a victim. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
E-cigarettes: Are they safer than tobacco?

Are E-Cigarettes a high-tech way to hook a new generation on a bad nicotine habit? Speaker Grace Alderson, MPH, will give an overview on E-Cigarettes and “Vaping.” A health educator with the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department’s Tobacco Prevention Settlement Program, she’ll provide information about health and safety concerns, youth use, local issues, data and policies as well as potential future health impacts these products may have. Come prepared for an interactive question and answer period.
