Lompoc Valley Medical Center, in its quest to provide new and innovative services to the Healthcare District, has contracted with Addiction Medicine Services, Inc. (AMS Inc.) to manage LVMC's voluntary chemical dependency treatment center.  A unique element of the new center will be the “Heroes Program”.  It will focus on the “care and restoration” of military, law enforcement and fire department professionals who are struggling with chemical dependency issues. 

Steven Collier is the CEO of AMS, Inc. and is looking forward to working with LVMC to bring these new service to the Lompoc Valley.

Rollin Bailey named ‘Physician of the Year’

It seems Lompoc physician Dr. Rollin Bailey just keeps getting awards.

In 2010, he was named "Physician of the Year" at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center, and in 2011 not only was he named "Favorite Physician in Lompoc" in a Lompoc Record reader's poll, he was also named "Physician of the Year" by the Santa Barbara County Medical Society (SBCMS).

LVMC named one of the nation's most improved hospitals

Improving patients’ perceptions of the care they receive has been a major goal of the hospital’s staff members since relocating last year from a 65-year-old building on Hickory Street to a brand-new facility on East Ocean Avenue.

“The problem with the old place was that it was old. You could have the best staffing in the world, but you can’t overcome backed-up plumbing,” Buch said. “I think the quality of the care was always there; it’s just that the perception wasn’t always there.”

Well, now it is.

Based on a patient survey conducted by NRC Picker, a national health-care research corporation, Lompoc Valley Medical Center is one of the most improved hospitals in the corporation’s national membership group.

Facts about Influenza

It's flu season again and your friends at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center have recommended a few simply things that you can do to protect yourself and others from getting sick.

  • Wash your hands often.
  • Cough and/or sneeze into your sleeve.
  • Keep your hands out of your mouth, eyes and nose. 
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Use disinfectant cleaner to clean commonly used surfaces in your home.
  • Be sure to get the seasonal flu shot each year.
