In its ongoing efforts to support the Lompoc Valley Medical Center and to promote healthcare in the Lompoc Valley community, the Lompoc Hospital Foundation will be hosting a "Colorthon" on October 24. Proceeds benefit the Comprehensive Care Center renovation project.

Participants can run or walk through a 5k through several "color zones."

All members of the community are welcome to attend the event held at River Park in Lompoc, CA.

Cost of registration is $35 per person. There is a discount on registration fees for families of 3 or 4.

Pre-Registered participants will be guaranteed a free Colorthon T-shirt and a free bag of color.

Registration fees will be refunded for any pledges totaling over $100 per person.

All pledge monies must be turned in the day of the event.

For each $25 in pledges, participants will receive one entry into a drawing to win a $200 cash prize the day of the event.

 

 


Certified, experienced childbirth and lactation specialists offer a variety of education classes to help prepare you, your coach and your family for the arrival of your new baby. These classes can help you to feel more confident about what to expect with childbirth and parenting. Birth Center Tours

Expectant mothers and birthing coaches are invited to tour the Birth Center at Lompoc Valley Medical Center in order to familiarize themselves with our philosophy of family centered birth. The tour includes information on general hospital policies, admitting processes, perinatal education programs and a sneak-peek at our labor, delivery and recovery suites.

Prepared Childbirth

A series of classes designed to teach expectant mothers and childbirth coaches about the laboring process.

Schedule: Every Thursday in the Ocean's Seven Cafe from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Topics include:

  • Normal Pregnancy
  • Normal Birth
  • Pain Management
  • Birthing Techniques
  • Post-Partum Care
  • Breast Feeding
  • Cesarean Sections

These classes are provided in an attempt to raise awareness of proper childbirth techniques and to help ease the transition into motherhood.

Volunteering

Designed for compassionate and motivated individuals who would like to be of service, our Volunteer program is open for new volunteers throughout the year. At LVMC, we have many ways for you to make a difference and serve in vital areas. The experiences you will gain as a volunteer will add a new dimension to your life.  

Volunteer Standards

  1. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 1-hour shift per week over six consecutive months. We do offer short term, summer, internship or shadowing volunteer opportunities.
  3. Volunteers must be able to abide by all patient confidentiality guidelines, customer service expectations and LVMC policies.
  4. Volunteers must have access to an email address. The Volunteer Services department utilizes email to communicate with volunteers.

If accepted as a volunteer, you will be asked to:

  1. Attend an orientation at Lompoc Hospital.
  2. Participate in an interview.
  3. Complete a mandatory two-step Tuberculosis (TB) screening. 
  4. Consent to a background check for volunteers 18 years of age and older (hospital provided). If you are under 18 years of age, a letter of recommendation is required.
  5. Attend at least one hour of orintation.
  6. Attend at least two weeks of job shadowing and training.
  7. Complete annual education on general hospital policies and procedures.
  8. Complete annual competency validation for specific service descriptions.

Volunteer Dress Code

  • We require volunteer uniforms to be worn in all areas. Uniforms are provided free of charge.
  • Volunteers must follow the Dress Code guidelines.

Incorporates: Utilization Management/Case Management/Social Services Department

The Case Management / Social Services department assists patients and families with their physicians and hospital staff to direct care to an appropriate level for their clinical needs, and to assure reimbursement for that care by payers; to coordinate services necessary post-discharge integrating the psycho socioeconomic factors influencing continuity of care; and to province patient advocacy in a compassionate manner.

Services are available for all patients and their families: assessment within 24 hours of admission and 48 hours for weekend admits for socioeconomic problems arising out of the patient's illness and a discharge plan of care. Appropriate referrals are made to community resources. The assessment (with patient and family involved), individualized plan for short and long-term goals, and referrals will be documented in the patient's medical record in the progress note section for all involved physicians and staff to access the plan.

Office Hours

The services are provided Monday - Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 and on-call 24/7. NASW, JCAHO are recognized standards for care and compliance with Title XXII are followed. There is participation in the Bioethics Committee and based upon daily, concurrent review of patient's care, a weekly Care Conference is conducted for outliers, aberrancies and quality of care issues. The department reports to the CEO administratively and the Quality of Care
