How do I determine if I am currently using a ThinApp application?

The ThinApp viewer was made to work in a 64 bit environment, although it can work in a 32 bit environment. One way you can know what type of Synapse viewer you have is:

Look at your Synapse Icon on your desktop.

  • If it is a regular 32 bit viewer then it has the IE Icon “e” or it will have the “A” icon that is named “Synapse” (this is for PACS only clients- Most are not.
  • ThinApp Viewer = on your desktop you should see the “A” icon named “W7-RIS-SR….”

I am a current Synapse user and would like to download the latest viewer (not the ThinApp)

Control + L. Mouse Click on this URL link http://pacs.lompocvmc.com to initiate the download process

Click on the large download icon.

When you are prompted for a username and password use this, UN: lvmc\download, PW: download

You will be prompted to RUN a program twice towards the beginning of the download. The download should take about 5minutes or less. Once the viewer has been downloaded, open up some images.

If you want to view the exam series as thumbnails when you open images then click on the Series Picker Tool Bar icon (Upside down Triangle). Choose the settings shown in the example, and then apply them.

I currently use the ThinApp application. How do I get the latest ThinApp version?

You will need to do three things before downloading the new ThinApp version. Make sure the ThinApp is currently not open. If it is open when you begin the uninstall process it will not uninstall and you will have to restart your computer and repeat the three steps below again.

Uninstalling the old ThinApp Version

  1. Open the Start menu and type %appdata% in the search field at the bottom and then enter.
  2. You will see a series of Folders in alphabetical order. Delete the “ThinStall” Folder
  3. Delete the “A” icon on your desktop.

Breast Density Law

California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law SB1538 requiring health facilities performing mammography examinations, such as Lompoc Valley Medical Center, that identify patients having heterogeneously dense breasts or extremely dense breasts, based on the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System established by the American College of Radiology, to include such existence of heterogeneously dense breasts in the summary of the written report that is sent to the patient.

The State of California Legislature has recently passed but not funded a law mandating that radiologists must report to the patient her breast density in the patient lay letter and that increased density could increase the patients risk for breast Cancer. To find out more click the link below:
