Mission Statement

The Physical Therapy Department is a team of rehabilitation specialists, including physical and occupational therapy, that provide rehabilitation and education services to inpatient, outpatient, community, and staff in a timely, professional, compassionate manner in line with the mission of the Lompoc Healthcare District.

Scope of Service

The Physical Therapy Department provides inpatient and outpatient services to clients who have physical impairment resulting form injury, disease or other causes.

We treat clients of all acuity/nonacuity with various diagnoses, including:

  • orthopedic
  • Neurological
  • Cardiovascular
  • Respiratory
  • Wound
  • General

We serve patients of all ages and regardless of sex, race, religion, color or national origin.

The department is committed to following laws and regulations established by the Physical Therapy Practice Act and Regulations, the Physical Therapy Board of California, and the JCAHO.

The Physical therapist is responsible for evaluating the patient, interacting with the physician regarding order modification, and overseeing progression of therapy and patient goals. The physical therapist and therapist assistant assess the patient's care needs by gathering significant patient medical and social history, continuously reevaluating patient status, and coordinating with patient/family and hospital staff.

Outpatient physical therapy is initiated with receipt of a recent physician order and continued with renewed orders each thirty days. Inpatient PT is started within 24 hours of receipt of physician order.

Discharge of the patient occurs when goals are met, the patient has reached maximum benefit from the therapy services, the patient refuses or does not show for three consecutive visits, or the physician discharges the patient form the hospital or therapy.

The (outpatient) regular operating hours are provided Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and are flexible depending on patient volume. Outpatients are not seen on major holidays or weekends. Inpatients receive treatment BID Monday through Saturday & QD on Sundays and major holidays (except Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's day when the holiday is observed).

Occupational therapy is consulted/contracted as needed for inpatient & outpatient services.
