The Lompoc Hospital District Foundation is pleased to announce it has been awarded $3,500 through AgWest Farm Credit’s Rural Community Grant program.

The grant award will be used to support capital expenses for the Lompoc Health – Village Center project, including the purchase of essential clinical equipment, including wheelchairs and exam tables.

Lompoc Valley Medical Center, in partnership with the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation, is expanding access to outpatient care through the Lompoc Health – Village Center in Vandenberg Village. The clinic will include a walk-in Urgent Care and services that will increase capacity for primary care, pediatrics and specialty services.

The funds granted by AgWest Farm Credit’s Rural Community Grant program will allow LVMC to increase access to care close to home, especially to serve those in Vandenberg Village, Vandenberg Space Force Base and the surrounding unincorporated communities.

“We are grateful to AgWest for its commitment to the healthcare of our community,” said Peter Masado, LVMC Fund Development Manager. “For many residents in the Lompoc Valley, getting routine care is not simple. Families often wait weeks for appointments or travel outside the area for services that should be available close to home. Parents take time off work to bring their children to appointments in neighboring cities. Seniors and those with limited transportation face even greater challenges, which leads to delayed care altogether. The Village Center is a direct response to these healthcare gaps in our community. By expanding local clinic space and adding providers, this project makes it easier for people to be seen at their local clinic.”

AgWest’s Rural Community Grants provide funds to non-profit organizations for projects that improve rural communities within Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. This includes efforts such as building or improving facilities; purchasing necessary equipment to facilitate a local program; and funding capital improvements which enhance a community’s infrastructure, viability and prosperity.

“AgWest is committed to investing in projects that improve quality of life in the rural communities we serve,” said Bethany Filter, AgWest Farm Credit Portfolio Manager. “The Village Center will help increase access to local healthcare, and we’re proud to support its impact on the region.”

The Lompoc Hospital District Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Lompoc Healthcare District and its healthcare sites, including Lompoc Valley Medical Center. It raises funds for hospital equipment, facility improvements, and community health education initiatives that support local healthcare services and enhance care quality for residents throughout the Lompoc Valley.
