Do you want to have a say at Lompoc Valley Medical Center? Now’s your chance. For the first time, LVMC is creating a new venue for community members to help guide the hospital in its efforts to ensure the focus of healthcare is centered on the patient and the family.

The Patient and Family Advisory Council is a group designed to forge a strong partnership between its healthcare professionals and the community.

Applications are now available for community members interested in serving on the council.

“We want members of the community to actively participate in this advisory council for positive change, by sharing their perspectives on a range of topics and process improvements,” said Marissa A. Goodson, Patient and Family Engagement Coordinator at LVMC.

Those interested in applying can now download an application at www.lompocvmc.com or pick up a copy at LVMC Administration office during business hours Monday through Friday.

After an application and interview process, those chosen for the Council will begin meeting in February or March.

“Lompoc Valley Medical Center’s Patient and Family Advisory Council will create a team that includes members of the community, hospital staff, physicians, and administration. The team’s goal is to assist LVMC to improve the health of the community we serve,” explained Quality Improvement/Risk Management Director Melissa DeBacker. “Through the Patient Advisory Council, the members will provide an opportunity for learning, influence culture change, raise awareness and help improve patient safety and satisfaction outcomes.”
