LVMC Welcomes Dr. Lloyd Trujillo to Physician Services

Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Lloyd Trujillo, MD is returning to Lompoc in June and will join OBGYN Dr. Rodney Huss, MD in treating patients at Lompoc Valley Medical Center: Physician Services, 136 N Third St.

“I think in general sometimes we think the grass is greener on the other side. And then you realize after you leave, what you’ve missed,” Dr. Trujillo said. While working in the San Francisco Bay Area, he missed the small town atmosphere, his patients and the quality of life.

“You find out how much more important that is after you leave. The familiarity with everybody and everything around here is something I miss.”

Dr. Trujillo was born and reared in Colorado and graduated with his medical degree in 1982 from Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After completing his internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, he served his residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Department of OBGYN, in Arizona.

He has worked as an OBGYN with Indian Health Services in New Mexico. He previously practiced at Sansum Clinic, Gallup Family Health Center, Central Colorado Medical Associates and Partners in Women’s Health, among others.

He estimates he has delivered thousands of babies.

“This is an experience working with women,” Dr. Trujillo says. “For the most part, they are very healthy patients. It’s a rewarding time in their lives. I get to join them in that experience. It’s different than a lot of other areas of medicine. You can really be a closer part of their lives. And you’re trying to do your best to ensure a healthy, happy outcome for the children. It does have its complications, so it’s just trying to get them through that safety.”

He’s looking forward to moving back to Lompoc in a few months, and reconnecting with friends and patients. He’s pleased to be affiliated now with Lompoc Valley Medical Center, rather than returning to Sansum Clinic.

“Having a partnership with the hospital brings me a little closer into the community,” Dr. Trujillo says.

Compassionate and quality care through every stage of life.
