LVMC and Sansum Evaluating Transition of Lompoc Clinic Ownership

Lompoc Valley Medical Center and Sansum Clinic announced Friday that they are in the early stages of discussions to transition ownership of Sansum’s Lompoc facility at 1225 N H St.

The proposed transaction, if completed, includes transitioning all Sansum Clinic Physicians to professional service agreements and employment of Sansum Clinic staff. “For over two decades we have partnered with Sansum to assure access to high quality primary and specialty care. We envision very little change in the current operations and would plan to restore daily Urgent Care for our entire community” said Jim Raggio, LVMC CEO.

Sansum Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer Kurt N. Ransohoff, MD, FACP, said Sansum has been looking at ways to continue providing the best possible healthcare to patients in Lompoc, at the same time that LVMC is offering a robust set of outpatient services.

During the next several months, the two entities will determine whether a transition of ownership of the Sansum Clinic facility and services to LVMC will better serve patients, staff, and the community.

“As part of our thinking, we are aware that Lompoc Valley Medical Center has the opportunity to provide a vertical, integrated solution which will enable the organization to provide services across the entire spectrum of care,” Dr. Ransohoff said. “We think that offers some significant advantages to all concerned.”

LVMC and Sansum will spend the next several months on due diligence to ensure patients’ needs will be met and that a smooth transition will occur if the proposal is approved by their respective Board of Directors.
