A Familiar Face Returns to the Board

Lompoc financial adviser Roger McConnell is back on the LVMC Board of Directors after a short absence.

McConnell, who previously served for more than two decades on the board, was re-elected in November 2020.

“I decided to run because I believe my business background and 23 years of board experience can make an important contribution to the LVMC Board,” McConnell says. “Healthcare continues to be of utmost importance to our, and every community, and as a board member, I can assist the board in setting and accomplishing effective goals.”

McConnell, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon, was previously a partner in his family franchise restaurant business before turning to financial advising.

He notes that navigating the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will be the most obvious challenge facing the hospital this year.

“But finances, quality of care, attracting and retaining great nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals is a close second.”

McConnell says he’s always been proud of the staff, nurses, and physicians' skill and dedication in the healthcare district. He said those feelings were reinforced in 2020 by the hospitalization of his father-in-law.

“The care and concern he received in the ER, Critical Care Unit, and Comprehensive Care Center were professional and state-of-the-art. There are larger hospitals in the area that provide a higher level of trauma care. Still, LVMC effectively and consistently meets the healthcare needs of the Lompoc Valley.”
