In this presentation, Vicki and her team will detail how crooks use clever schemes to defraud their victims, including a large percentage of seniors. They’ll provide detailed information on fraud prevention, intervention and victim support services. Learn about scams about lottery, technical support, phishing, romance scams and more. Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones and understand the warning signs for various scams.
The Speakers:
Vicki Johnson is a semi-retired senior deputy district attorney with the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office who has been a prosecutor for three decades. She has handled a wide variety of cases including identity theft, welfare and insurance fraud, domestic violence, child abuse, assault and battery, criminal threats and murder.
Dayton Aldrich, J.D., is a Restitution Specialist and Victim Advocate for the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office. Dayton is responsible for facilitating restitution claims for criminal cases. He advises attorneys, Probation and law enforcement on restitution law, ensuring that victims receive the restitution they are owed, and preparing legal documents requiring procedural research.
Monica Zarate has been a Victim Advocate for four years and works with those experiencing trauma, assisting them in navigating the criminal justice system. She has a history as a paralegal, welfare services administrative assistant and victim-witness advocate.
