CEO Corner: Issue 210

Greetings Lompoc Residents,

I took the reins at LVMC on February 28, after the well-earned retirement of Jim Raggio. I am appreciative of the very warm welcome I received from everyone I have interacted with, and I look forward to being actively involved in the community.

LVMC is working diligently to expand the breadth of medical services and medical specialties offered to the community, and to recruit more physicians to augment the excellent clinicians already providing medical care at LVMC and at our network of outpatient facilities, operating under the banner of Lompoc Health.

With such a significant expansion of services and physicians, we are using great efforts to ensure that all services are integrated, so they work seamlessly and synergistically for the benefit of our patients.

Although LVMC cannot provide every medical service, we can provide most of what you may need.

Our goals are fourfold: to enable Lompoc Valley residents to receive their healthcare locally to the greatest degree possible; to provide the highest quality of care for the services we do provide; to be the facilitator of care if we cannot provide it directly; and to treat all patients and families with the utmost respect and compassion.

We are placing great emphasis on “hardwiring” customer service, to ensure that all of our staff and doctors treat everyone the way we would want and expect to be treated. Although I have heard of some instances where we have fallen short of this goal, just in my limited time here I have received many positive comments from grateful patients and family members.

I have a big favor to ask of all Lompoc Valley residents: If you have utilized our services and had a positive experience, please continue to use them and tell your friends. If you’ve had a less than positive experience with us, consider giving us another chance. We are committed to continuous improvement and I am confident that you will be pleased with the care and service you receive.

I am interested in hearing directly from you. Please do not hesitate to call me or email me if you have comments or suggestions regarding the care provided by LVMC and Lompoc Health, or if I can be assistance to you. Through your feedback, we can recognize and reinforce the good things, and make improvements where necessary. I can be reached at (805) 737-3301 or popkins@lompocvmc.com.

Warm regards,

Steve Popkin
