Lompoc Hospital District Foundation Colorthon 2021 Raises $24,000

More than 300 people ran, walked, and strolled at the Colorthon 5K at the Mission Club on Oct. 30, raising almost $24,000 for the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation. Participants were sprayed with plumes of dyed cornstarch during the event, creating multi-hued faces and shirts as they traveled the picturesque course.

The Foundation is raising funds to help purchase a new advanced MRI for Lompoc Valley Medical Center.

The fundraising was boosted by more than $18,000 in sponsorships from the generosity of Gold Sponsor Coastal Vision Inc. and Bronze-level sponsors Vivid Financial; Allan Hancock College; Mary Sharp, CPA; Burton Ranch/Lompoc Project; Assisted Home Health and Hospice; Steve Popkin; Alice Milligan and ProWest Constructors. More than 20 businesses and individuals were Color Sign sponsors.

“On behalf of the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the many people who participated in this year’s Colorthon,” said Foundation President Alice Milligan. “We had more than 300 people -- from age 4 to 65-plus -- on the course at Mission Club in Vandenberg Village enjoying the day getting sprayed with all types of color. What a fun day!”

Though many people ran individually, there was also a large contingent of teams participating in the Colorthon, including:

  • Stroller Warriors Vandenberg
  • Team Oscar
  • Crossfit Ohana
  • Team Comprehensive Care Center
  • Team GabaGhoul
  • Life Chiropractic
  • Golden Girls
  • Candace Birthday Run

Milligan said the event would not have been possible without the generosity of the Mission Club acting as a host for the 5K.

“They were so generous and great to work with,” she said. “Additionally, a big thank you goes out to our many volunteers who are always there to support our events. We could not do these events without these wonderful volunteers. Thank you for supporting this contribution to purchase a new MRI machine for Lompoc Valley Medical Center.”

The Foundation’s next major fundraising event is the Flower Valley Golf Classic, which will occur at the Mission Club on May 20, 2022.
