At Lompoc Valley Medical Center, we believe that knowledge empowers families. Our childbirth education and breastfeeding support services are designed to help you feel confident, informed, and ready for the arrival of your baby. Whether it’s your first birth or you’re welcoming another child, our experienced team is here to support you every step of the way.

Childbirth Education Classes

Our childbirth preparation courses are taught by skilled labor and delivery nurses who understand what matters most to expectant families. The class covers everything from what to expect during labor to strategies for coping with discomfort and making informed medical decisions.

Topics include:

  • Labor and delivery stages
  • Pain management and medical interventions
  • Partner support and relaxation techniques
  • Postpartum recovery and what to expect after birth

Class Format

To accommodate busy schedules, our childbirth class is offered in a convenient single-day format. We also offer instruction in both English and Spanish to better serve our diverse community.

  • Single-day weekend course
  • Available in English and Spanish
  • Taught by certified labor and delivery nurses
  • Led by Megan Ricci, a Lactation Educator (not an IBCLC)
  • Led by Anahi Fontanos, BSN, RNC-OB

  • Kayla – International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Megan, Angela, and Cynthia – Certified Lactation Educators

We offer:

  • One-on-one breastfeeding support during your hospital stay and after discharge
  • Support group sessions for ongoing connection and encouragement
  • Education and assistance with your personal breast pump
