The postpartum period is a time of healing, adjustment, and discovery—for both you and your baby. At Lompoc Valley Medical Center, we’re here to support you well beyond delivery. From physical recovery and newborn care to emotional wellness and community resources, our team is dedicated to helping you navigate this important transition with confidence and care.
The Golden Hour - This first hour after delivery is reserved for uninterrupted bonding through skin-to-skin contact, helping to regulate your baby’s vital signs and establish breastfeeding.
Nursery Care - All routine care—such as vital signs, medications, and newborn assessments—is completed in your LDRP suite. Optional newborn baths are available upon request.
It’s normal to experience a range of emotions after giving birth, but if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unusually sad, you’re not alone—and support is available. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a simple and confidential tool designed to help identify signs of postpartum depression. Taking this short questionnaire can be a helpful first step in understanding your emotional well-being.
